As a rule of thumb

I say

She is my alter ego

She is the best friend

That I never deserved

You would think

When she schools me

Showing me ten times

Day and night

I would get it right

When I hear

That's the wrong way

I did it like you told me

Wednesday

Well this is Saturday

And there's no arguing

That would be insane

As I checked the calendar

Wow

She is right again

As it is Saturday

After 40 years married

You'd think

She'd be on to me

I sure like playing dumb

That's my rule of thumb

Perhaps she knows

She's married to this man

Who likes her crazy rules

I'm her Jack

Not so numble

Not so quick

Jumping over her candlestick

As a rule of thumb

She says

Both undeserving
