Hey, studied poetry and playwriting at NYU, but also am inspired to write songs. I have a ton of melodies and lyrics recorded on my phone. Usually, in moments of extreme emotion, I get an idea for a chorus. Sometimes I get the lyrics and melody of the bridge, too. From there, I understand exactly what I want to say in the verses, and can see the overall story the song is telling. I think my training as a writer has taught me how to avoid clich├ęs and use images and honesty to tell a story. I am not a musician by any means, and I'm looking for a partner who can write sick melodies and harmonies, especially for the verses. Would be cool to find someone who would be inspired by my song ideas. I also enjoy writing lyrics for melodies, and letting the melody inspire the story. Main goal is to bring story back to pop. Yes, the melody and beat are crucial, but a good story can take a song to the charts and change someone's life. Relatively recent examples: Just Give Me a Reason, Stay, Closer, Someone Like You, Blank Space, Whataya Want From Me, Delicate. I can write in a variety of voices and also have my own voice. Have been keeping up with the top forty since I was 4, and it's been interesting how things have evolved. I'd say my own writing voice is something you'd hear on the radio in the 90s. Oh, one last thing, I've never tried being a topline writer, but this is something that fascinates me, and there's a possibility I might be good at it. Reach out if you think you might be a good fit :)
