I have many hooks and title ideas with songs in various stages of completion. I tend to work from the initial hook idea that I record into my iPhone vocally which usually produces a title idea or the hook. This initial inspiration is where I feel I am strongest and I then build on that idea with further lyrics and melodic ideas. I'm not a musician so it's a slow process but I often have the whole melodic idea worked out and it's a matter of finding strong lyrics to fit and working out the chord progression and instrument parts from there using various apps on my iPad or Mac. I think collaborating with a lyricist and a musician/producer at this stage would really help their developement and speed up the whole process for me to see them come to fruition.
