Sixes And Sevens
I first heard of the phrase "at sixes and sevens" while watching rugby league, and it's mainly used to describe a team that is in a state of total confusion or disarray. I wanted to try and use as many references to this sport as I can, without the song actually being about the game itself. I'm exploring metaphors once again, which is really taking me out of my comfort zone here. I have rarely used metaphors in my songwriting, but I am gradually finding them to be very useful and even a powerful way to express myself. I'm thinking this song can refer to life, well that's how I see it anyway. A lot of my songs lately seem to be about life, and I guess that's the mood I find myself in as I get older.
