About
Dutch Knickerbocker has been a lyricist since reading the romantic poets in his teenage years and becoming washed in delight by their lyrical sprays and endless waves of joy. Washington Irving and Edgar Allan Poe were favored influences. The folk and rock heroes of the era combined a singular impetus launching his creative attempts as these writers in the genre continue to be revered as major influences in his literary pursuits. Dutch persists in his love of the lyrical craft enamored by the likes of Brian Wilson, Jesse Winchester, John Prine, Townes Van Zandt, Guy Clark, Steve Goodman, Blaze Foley, Jerry Jeff Walker, Dave Van Ronk, and Bob Dylan. In his professional work as an Industrial Engineer Dutch earned a U.S. Patent (Pat.#5,137,190) for a symmetrical window curtain pleating device. Shortly thereafter Dutch developed a pattern matching system for suits and sport coats and was awarded a Foreign Filing Licence in lieu of a utility patent, and published an article on his system for Bobbin Magazine. Now in retirement, Dutch has returned to composing poetry and has expanded the love of songwriting he nurtured in his younger days. He continues to hold popular songwriters as major winds directing his creative ambition. In his past, he enjoyed moderate success writing and performing tapes of his songs with local artists in his hometown and received airplay on a local radio station.

Songwriting Achievements:
I started writing song lyrics after my discharge from the Army. I wrote with a friend who played local clubs and concerts around New England. I became his road manager and booked gigs for him and was his transportation to and from engagements. He drowned in a boating mishap off Nantucket. I then wrote with another local professional guitar player and instructor. We recorded demo tapes that I sent out to several record producers around the country. I made motorcycle trips from MA to NYC in search of producers and arrangers. I sold myself as a long-haired unknown waiting to be discovered.

When I take my final rest I’ll be at my best lay me down, I won’t be round for long. I’ll hear the angel’s horn once again I’m gone in the blink of an eye, I’m headin’ home.   Burn me up and bury me down six feet under solid ground once I’m under I’ll

Our Lord Jesus gave His life for us into His Father’s hands. Most wonderful a gift to give up all He loved and knew. No works are fit to match His giving, all we’ve left to do Reach up and make His life our own, fulfilling Jesus’ plans.   As He was all per

As I approach its eminence, the Gate of Paradise, Across the long-anticipated worn and leveled plain, The sight of all magnificence is sharpening my eyes And dulling appetites for habits that no more remain.   Death to wrongs and lies! I’m living truth tha

Simple pleasures here and now all about who we are we shut our lights and shutters tight and we don’t wish upon a star. What matters most to most is when it comes our time to leave knowing which end is up and whose heart we believe.   I love to lick my lip

The older we grow the more we ought to know we walk about to sort out what is and isn’t so. Let’s say goodbye to childhood and decide the way And which side we will follow and whom we will obey.   I’ll live for life. I will choose life over death. Where th

There was once a man who walked upon the earth with good news of a greater joy than any one of us is worth. His torture and His murder like a thief upon a cross were the wages of iniquity, our Savior paid the cost.   Then He rose up, He rose up, He rose up
