This Song

Words come tumbling from her mouth

Like water from a fountain.

Her eyes brush my skin,

Like summer feels upon the mountain.

Saying my name, a dawn chorus

And sunrise in the spring,

Her smile sees my legs go week,

She doesn’t even have to do a thing.

Where she comes from,

I don’t really know.

But where she’s going

I know I’ll have to go.

I don’t ask her anything

Because I’ll want to buy a ring

And this is the reason I sing,

This song.

Saying one word and my heart,

Becomes an open door.

She whispers like seashells

That I have never heard before.

Her hands are like a halo

When she gently places them in mine.

She gives me a minute

And I think then that this is for all time.

Where she comes from,

I don’t really know.

But where she’s going

I know I’ll have to go.

I don’t ask her anything

Because I’ll want to buy a ring

So this is the reason I sing,

This song.

So many times I wanted

To be with you, to belong.

For all the right reasons,

It’s always seemed I’d get it so very wrong.

But these words on a page and

And a voice that can sing,

Don’t really matter if they don’t

Hurt anything,

So this is the reason I sing,

This song.
