I waited in a parked car
To see the world as it is
I wasn’t expecting a moment like this
She came round the corner
The wind pulled at her hair
She got into the passenger seat
“Take me anywhere”
I put my foot down and she rolled off
All the places in town that we could stop
“That’s not somewhere I would usually go”
But I’ll pull over “If you say so”
Pretty eyes and soft sound
We left the city with the windows down
Cos your smile was breaking down my walls
Like nothing ever mattered at all
“I’m not sure where we are now”
Somewhere south of the fountain
I fell in debt to ‘More than a Feeling’
The sun rolled down the windscreen
We were looking at darkness
We were laughing at whatever we started
She put her head down on the side of my seat
And kicked her shoes from off her feet
The road opened up like a river
As she said: “I’ll be fine as long as I’m with ya”
Pretty eyes and soft sound
We left the city with the windows down
Cos your smile was breaking down my walls
Like nothing ever mattered at all
“Shall we take the train now?
Leave for about a year?”
“I haven’t got any money”
“Doesn’t matter when I’m here”
So she pulled me closer
The cold still bit my skin
“I want to get to know ya
So where should I begin?”
Beautiful and gone now
She took a taxi from a cold town
Cos the horizon hit us on the road
And she wanted to find
Somewhere like home
Empty
