Hello, I am currently learning how to song write and am working towards improving my skills in this area. I recently just started so I’m fairly new to everything. Through songwriting, I want to be able to create music that I am able to put out one day. Growing up, I never saw anyone that looked like me in the mainstream music industry. There were a few Asian-American artists that would play on the radio such as Far East Movement or Bruno Mars. However, even then, they were male artists. I always thought to myself, “I hope that this changes and that there are more female Asian-American artists that can make it big.” Well, Gandhi once said, “be the change that you wish to see in the world.” So here I am, trying to make the change that I want to see. I hope by pursuing my passion in music, it will inspire others to do the same. More representation is needed in the music industry. I want to be able to help pave the way for more opportunities for women, especially for women of color to pursue careers in this field. I may lack the basic skills currently, but one thing I do have is the passion and drive to succeed. The skills can be learned but motivation and dedication is essential for success.
