About
My name is Frank. I have been a lifelong semi professional musician and songwriter, but more towards the hobbyist side now. I am looking for someone to collaborate with to help me finish some of my ideas. Typically, I have the music and some melodies done, but lyrics are my Achilles heal. I have a small home studio for demos. I would also like to help other writers by providing guitar parts or backing music in general. I really enjoy collaboration and watching songs develop. I am not looking to be a performer, but would like to try and market songs to see what would happen. Honestly, I just love to play and write, even if nothing comes of it :)

Frank P, I read your profile and the part about hooks snagged me. No need to groan. The lyric I'm offering below is one of my catchy ones. I'm looking for a collaborator to finish some songs from 2 musicals I haven't been able to stage because the lyrics are uncomposed. I have a new musical I'm plotting from a novel I wrote if you really want to jump into the deep end. I'd be interested in punching up another writer's lyrics as it seems all I do is look forward to rewriting. For adding lyrics to melody, I confess I need help like you singing "do re me" to the score or fake lyrics. Paul McCartney singing "Ham and Eggs" to "Yesterday" until John told him to try the title word? That type of fakeness.

So here is a song from a scene where one guy is advising another what to do since the guy is in a headlock held by the 2nd guy's fiancée. These things happen all the time on stage. Frank John.

Tap Out Already!

By Frank John © 2009, 2019

Lotsa guys go for the fight
It’s the most natural thing to do
Lotsa guys never ever win a fight
And man, is that the case for you!

Tap Out!
Cause you’re losing.
You tap twice
(Tap-tap, tap-tap)
Loud as
You can.
Hanging on
Is way hard-
The other side
Got smart
And too far
Inside your guard.

Tap out!
(Tap-tap, tap-tap)
You gave up
Leverage.
You stand bad
Everywhere.
Tap Out!
(Tap-tap, tap-tap)
You’re blue
And your
Enemy doesn’t care.
The arm bar
Pulls your joint
Apart.
Worse
I think
That choke hold
Is gonna reach
Your heart.

It takes stones to go in scared
War or love, let the man choose!
Nuggets of steel to go in unprepared.
Trying is golden, except when you lose.

(Tap-tap, tap-tap)
(Tap-tap, tap-tap)

Finally
Your pulse
Feels thready.
And vision
Gets dark
Unsteady.
(Tap-tap, tap-tap)
Tap Out!
Tap Out!
Tap Out!
Tap Out Already!
